Jonathan Juan DC. Moreno is the Chief Strategy and Governance Officer of Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. (MRSGI). He has a diverse range of management experience ranging from consulting to direct responsibility over functional and operational transformation programs in various industries such as mining, banking, capital markets, FMCG, public sector, travel, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, engineering, telecommunications, agriculture, and transportation.
He also has vast international experience having worked on projects in organizations that include large conglomerates, multilateral agencies, multinational organizations, family corporations, listed companies, state-owned enterprises, non-profit organizations, and regulatory agencies in the United Kingdom, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar.
Before his appointment, he served as Corporate Governance Advisor at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) - World Bank Group; Principal of Southeast Asia and Practice Leader for Corporate Governance and Risk Management at Palladium Group, Inc.; President and CEO of the Institute of Corporate Directors; Executive Director for Governance Advisory Council under the Office of the President; and Head of Corporate Governance and Risk Management at the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Moreno is the first-ever Vice-President for Corporate Governance and Risk Management at the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) and author of the ‘PSE Corporate Governance Guidelines for Publicly-Listed Companies’.
Moreno is currently an independent director and audit committee chair of the Philippine subsidiary of Marsh; director of ZMG Ward Howell; and a retained advisor on corporate governance to the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC).
A recipient of the prestigious Chevening Fellowship from the UK Government, Moreno received his MBA from the Asian Institute of Management and Melbourne Business School (under the International Student Exchange Program). He earned his BSC degree from the Philippine Military Academy in 1993. He also took advance studies in Corporate Governance from the Yale School of Management in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors in Sydney, Australia.
