INITIATES RECOVERY AND REBUILDING

Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. (MRSGI) has initiated the process of recovery and rebuilding following the announcement of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Visayas (BFP-7) that the fire at Metro Department Store and Supermarket in Ayala Center Cebu has been put out. The official “fire out” declaration of BFP-7 was made on Monday, January 8, 4:18 PM.

Due to the damages caused by the fire, the store will be closed temporarily. Meanwhile, affected employees are being reassigned to other Metro stores and offices in Cebu.

The incident, however, will not hamper the operations of Metro’s other 50 stores nationwide as well as its existing relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders. Metro remains committed to its expansion program in 2018 and beyond.

Metro is truly grateful to the BFP-7, Metro Ayala Emergency Brigade Team, the Ayala Center Cebu Emergency Brigade team, the City Government of Cebu, and other government agencies and personnel who have provided support throughout this incident. Metro would also like to express its heartfelt gratitude to all companies, private sector organizations, groups, and residents who came out to donate food, beverages, and other supplies for the emergency response teams.

Metro would like to sincerely thank its customers, business partners, and employees for their unwavering support. Rest assured that the company will focus on restoring operations so it can serve the community at the soonest possible time.

We are one Metro family. Padayon Metro.
