“More than the capital that started the business, the core values set forth by its patriarch serve as business foundation,” Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frank S. Gaisano said during the Metro Valued Partners Night recently held at the Skye, W Building, Bonifacio Global City at the Fort.

“We are proud of our brand authenticity: a defined heritage and history, and a well-grounded value set,” Gaisano said.

He underscored the importance of a good and dedicated team — an asset as the company expands its operations.

“A business enterprise is never a one-man show. As business grows, the company sees the need to develop and retain talents who help the company operate and lead the expansion roadmap,” the Metro Retail Stores Group official said.

Owned and operated by private family corporation Vicsal Development Corporation, the Metro Retail Stores Group started as a humble two-story department store in 1982. Today, it has turned into a premiere homegrown retailer with 42 stores employing more than 7,000 workers all over the country.

The company was originally named Gaisano Metro before it was called Metro Gaisano. It is now known as Metro Retail Stores Group.

“The Metro Retail Stores Group has transformed itself into a company encompassing multi-store formats: Metro Department Stores, Metro Supermarkets, Metro Hypermarkets, and Metro Fresh ‘n Easy neighborhood stores,” Gaisano said.

Gaisano also announced that Metro, which serves over 130,000 shoppers a day, is expected to expand to 100 stores in the next three years.
As it grows, Metro Retail Stores continue to provide its customers top-notch products and services.

“Good products and good services can only get one so far, but a good name built on hard work and trust makes customers loyal to a brand,” Gaisano said. “That makes all the difference in ensuring that the success of Metro Retail Stores Group is long-term from one generation to the next.”
