Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. (MRSGI) has received its first Golden Arrow from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), a recognition that reflects the company’s adherence to the highest standards of corporate governance. The award is based on the results of the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) and Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) assessments, which evaluate corporate performance in key areas such as transparency, accountability, shareholder rights, and stakeholder relations.

MRSGI earned a score that well qualifies for a one-arrow distinction. This recognition highlights MRSGI’s strong governance practices and alignment with globally established standards, and places the Cebu-based company alongside larger publicly listed companies.

"This recognition affirms our dedication to upholding principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability. Achieving the Golden Arrow is a significant milestone that reflects the hardwork of all our employees, and it motivates us to continue strengthening our governance practices," stated Sherisa Nuesa, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of MRSGI and herself a Fellow and Lecturer of ICD.

The ACGS and CGS Scorecards assess publicly listed companies based on their alignment with the Philippine Code of Corporate Governance and internationally recommended standards.

"We are honored to be recognized by the ICD. This award reflects our commitment to advancing corporate governance, which is fundamental to earning the trust of our stakeholders, and we are determined to keep pushing for further improvements in our governance framework," added Nuesa.

This recognition puts MRSGI among the top publicly listed companies in the Philippines acknowledged for governance excellence. It also emphasizes the company’s ongoing efforts to ensure ethical leadership, sustainability, and alignment with international best practices.

To date, Metro Retail operates a total of 66 branches across Luzon and the Visayas under the store formats Metro Supermarket, Metro Department Store, Super Metro Hypermarket, and Metro Value Mart. In line with its commitment to sustainable growth and strong corporate governance, MRSGI continues to aggressively expand its retail network.
