Metro Retail enhances store experience with accessible healthcare through Generika partnership

Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. (MRSGI) is expanding the role of its stores in everyday life through a new partnership with Generika Drugstore, bringing affordable medicines and basic healthcare services closer to Filipino communities.

As part of its continued commitment to convenience, accessibility, and value, MRSGI will introduce Generika Drugstore branches within select Metro Retail locations nationwide. The initiative reflects the company’s broader goal of making essential products and services more accessible through a single, convenient shopping destination.

With rising healthcare and living costs continuing to affect Filipino households, the partnership enables customers to address both their household and health needs in one place. By integrating healthcare access into its existing network of supermarkets, department stores, and hypermarkets, MRSGI is evolving the in-store experience to better respond to the everyday realities of the communities it serves.

“Metro Retail has always been committed to bringing convenience and value closer to Filipino families,” said Joselito Orense, MRSGI President and Chief Operating Officer. “Through this partnership, we can expand our in-store offerings to include affordable medicines and essential healthcare services, making these more accessible to the communities we serve.”

Generika Drugstore, one of the country’s leading providers of affordable generic medicines, complements MRSGI’s retail footprint through its “Ginhawang Generika” mission. Known for offering up to 85% savings versus branded medicines, Generika also provides value-added services such as free blood pressure checks, access to partner consultations, and affordable diagnostics, helping make healthcare more accessible and affordable for Filipino families.

The partnership will be rolled out in up to 14 Metro Retail locations across Luzon and Visayas this year, specifically targeting 2 in Metro Manila, 4 in CALABARZON, and 8 in the Visayas.

The initiative will be implemented under MRSGI’s Apple Drugstore subsidiary, serving as a platform to pilot integrated healthcare solutions within retail environments. Beyond expanding product offerings, the partnership reflects MRSGI’s continued efforts to enhance the store experience and meet the broader, everyday needs of Filipino families.

Through this collaboration, MRSGI reinforces its commitment to delivering everyday value while strengthening its role as a trusted retail partner in the communities it serves.
