The scholar-graduates of the Vicsal Foundation Scholarship Program for School Year 2025–2026

Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) and its philanthropic arm, Vicsal Foundation, Inc. (VSF), are celebrating 15 scholar-graduates for School Year 2025–2026, including eight who earned Latin honors.

The latest batch includes 11 college scholars and four medical school scholars who completed programs across various fields of study. Four graduated Magna Cum Laude and four Cum Laude, adding to the growing record of academic achievement among VSF scholars.

"Every graduating class reminds us why investing in education matters. Seeing these scholars complete their studies, many with academic honors, reflects not only their perseverance but also what becomes possible when students are given the opportunity to pursue their potential. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with them and look forward to seeing how they contribute to their communities and chosen professions," said Mr. Frank S. Gaisano, Chairman and President of VSF.

Investing in future generations through education

The Class of 2026 represents the continued impact of the VSF Scholarship Program, which has supported generations of deserving students in pursuing college education. Since the program began in 2007, a total of 260 scholars have graduated, including 170 who earned Latin honors.

The achievements of this year’s graduates span various fields of study and universities, demonstrating the diverse aspirations and potential of the scholars supported by the Foundation. Their success reflects not only their individual determination but also the collective efforts of their families, academic institutions, and the VSF community.

Beyond financial assistance, the VSF Scholarship Program also provided scholars with opportunities for personal development, volunteerism, and meaningful engagement with the broader community.

"Thank you for investing in my education and my future. I will always carry the kindness you've given and hope to create a difference backed by the same compassion and support you've given me,” said scholar-graduate Lynlie Ann Ebon, reflecting on her journey with the Foundation.

Fellow graduate John Kenny Quijote shared how becoming a Vicsal Scholar became a significant turning point in his life. Coming from a family with limited financial resources, the scholarship enabled him to pursue his college education while participating in volunteer activities and building meaningful connections.

“As a fresh graduate who's just starting my career, I can't say I've achieved all my dreams yet. But I can confidently say that Vicsal Foundation helped me take the first step toward them. For that, I will always be grateful,” Quijote said.

Medical school graduate Elaine Dagondon also expressed her gratitude for the Foundation’s support throughout her journey toward earning her Doctor of Medicine degree. She highlighted how the scholarship enabled her to continue her studies and pursue her goal of contributing to the healthcare sector.

“The support I received from Vicsal Foundation made it possible for me to continue pursuing my dream of becoming a doctor. I am grateful for the opportunity and for the encouragement that helped me persevere throughout medical school. I hope to pay this kindness forward by using my profession to serve others and contribute to the healthcare sector,” Dagondon said.

As the Class of 2026 begins the next chapter of their academic and professional journeys, MRSGI and VSF remain committed to expanding opportunities for deserving students through education. Through the VSF Scholarship Program, the Foundation continues to help students overcome financial barriers to higher education while encouraging them to pursue their chosen careers and contribute to their families and communities.
